At some point in the last 20 years, someone ran a study that said that millennials were 67% more likely to spend more money with a brand that advocated for a political cause, regardless of what that political cause was. Results, advertising has become significantly more political.
The reality is that when there are no real issues on the table it’s easy to say that, but then you start actually talking about issues and it’s not the fact that there are issues but the issues themselves that divide people.
Unfortunately, they built themselves this wonderful little trap because they thought that they could just get into politics and get the benefits of being in politics without any of the risks because their study said that there were no risks. Moreover, at the time there seems to be a consensus among young people with respect to what acceptable politics were, so these companies were lulled into a false sense of security that they just needed to do whatever the modern thing was and people would generally like them.
So the issue is that time moves on and things change. Maybe in the mid-2000s, or even the early to mid 2010s you could say that there was something of a standardized political rubric that you can follow and get most of the cohort, but since then things have become quite a bit more divisive. Now that thing that seemed like an easy way to make more money has become a dangerous mine field, and there is no right answer. There are mines in every direction.
Definitely something they need to figure out, but also a lesson the woke need to learn in general: Hate begets hate.
They’re so busy hating everyone who isn’t them that they don’t realize they’re taking broad coalitions that basically agreed with them and shoo them away.

What changed is corporations went woke went to ideological war against their customers.
The customers are saying if you hate us so much, we will spend our money with those who do not find us offensive.
